Independence Day

We spent the holiday at my parents annual July 4th party. The kids had fun running around with their flags and can never escape me posing them for a picture. My mom always keeps them with a popsicle in hand and provides them lots of neon glow jewelry for when it gets dark. We also did a pinata!

Jenna woke up on July 4th insisting that she have a new red, white and blue outfit for the day. She really wanted a dress like Marissa's. I explained to her that it was highly unlikely that I would be able to find that exact same dress for her, but we headed out to Kohl's to see what we could find. (Marissa was given her dress from Cousin Shannon two years ago.) I couldn't believe it when we found it!! What are the chances?! There was one dress left and it was her size. She was thrilled.

After grilling with our family and friends, we staked out the perfect spot for our blanket in anticipation of Lombard's awesome fireworks show. I heard they were really good, but I wouldn't know for sure because I was in the house with Nicholas and Marissa!!! Neither of them were having any fireworks this year. For those of you who don't already know, our kids hate loud noises (thunder, fireworks). One little thunder rumble and they're in our laps or jumping into our bed with us. Oh, and they hate the wind too. Even a light breeze is grounds for seeking immediate shelter. We'll try the fireworks again next year.
