I took the kids camping for the very first time this summer! I grew up camping and Brown County was by far my most favorite place to go. My family went there almost every year so I have lots of great childhood memories here. I couldn't wait to show my kids around and was surprised to see that almost everything was exactly the way I remembered it. Not much had changed. It was really neat bringing them to a place that I ran around as a kid. We met up with my parents, my brother Michael, my sister Melissa, Rick and Jesse (Rick's brother). Tom wasn't with us as he was away on a business trip. Next time!
This was home...we stayed in the pop-up with my parents and Michael. We all fit, but there wasn't much room to do anything other than sleep! This is what camping is all about though..it was fun!
The weather was beautiful. The kids ran around exploring and enjoying nature. Jenna was all excited about this little moth that landed on her jacket. I think he really liked her because he wouldn't leave and soon he was on her nose!
The kids wanted to fish so we headed down to a little pond. Noone caught anything, but they had fun trying.
Marissa observes the boys fishing from the path.
Here we are horseback riding. This is the same place my grandpa took me when I was little. It's kinda neat because you guide your own pony around the track.
Here's Jacob all sacked out in the back of my parents car. They had just returned from watching the sun set at one of the beautiful overlooks. He had a full day of fresh air!!
The kids were super excited to go on a night hike. They each clutched a little lantern and headed out with my mom into the pitch dark. Every so often they would turn off their lanterns and look up to the sky. They were amazed at all the stars they could see! Of course, Uncle Michael couldn't resist hiding in the bushes and jumping out to scare them.

We only stayed for one night on this trip, but we'll be camping again soon! My mom and dad just bought a brand new 25' camping trailer!!
