Father's Day

Marissa is three!

It's hard to believe that our baby Marissa is already three! She loved being the birthday girl and all the special attention that comes along with it. We had the McCarron and Dulzer families over to sing to the birthday girl!



Marissa is a HUGE Dora fan and thus almost all of her birthday presents were Dora related. Dora flip-flops, Dora sunglasses, a Dora t-shirt, Dora jammies, Dora bubble bath, and on and on!
I even wrapped up a box of Dora fruit snacks for her...she loved them. She sat in "the Dora birthday chair" while she opened up her presents.



Brianna made a very special hand decorated BFF frame of her and Marissa in their "Best Friend Dora" t-shirts. How cute is that?!



A basket full of bubble bath fun!



There was absolutely no debate on what kind of cake Marissa wanted this year. Dora the Explorer was it, of course! While I was a bit apprehensive to make this one due to all the frosting colors, I had to do it for my baby girl. Marissa was very happy with how it turned out! Here she is making a wish and blowing out her candles.

Marissa is embracing her third year with lots of vigor and little down time. She's a happy little girl (most of the time) and is constantly trying to keep up with her older siblings. At her three year checkup she was 37 1/2 inches long and she weighs 31 1/2 pounds.

Latchhooking

Jenna has discovered latchooking! She caught on quickly and is enjoying this fun craft. The McCarron girls also took up an interest. On this day Jenna invited Mallory over for a latchhooking playdate. Mallory likes to work on whatever color fits her mood while Jenna sticks to doing hers row by row. Eitherway, they both made significant progress together!

While I will probably seriously regret posting the next picture one day, I just couldn't resist! Jenna is not the only Martin intested in latchhooking.....

Boys can latchhook, too! Right?!?!? Right??!? (sigh) Early one morning I found Jacob hidden away on the other side of my bed secretly working on his sister's rainbow unicorn latchook! Being the extremely open-minded mother that I am, I asked him if he would like his own and later that day we were off to Michael's. He picked out a fish latchhook and is almost done with it!

For the record, Tom is absolutely horrified by this whole situation. He thinks I have Jacob "sewing". For those of you that know Jacob well, you can see how this truly is something that he would like. There's a "map" to follow, one right way to do it, and it's all neat and perfect looking when you're done. I have no idea where he gets this mentality from. :)

Go Rockies!

Summer = Baseball in the Martin house and Jacob couldn't wait to get out on that field. This season he was on the Colorado Rockies and while he wasn't thrilled about being in a purple jersey he got over that quickly and took to the mound with gusto! That's right, this season the kids pitched which made for more exciting (and much longer) games. This was a BIG DEAL to Jacob as he's been looking forward to pitching for years. Jacob was a natural on the mound and couldn't get enough. He just loved it. It was really fun watching him out there!

To make the season even more fun, Cousin Tyler was in the league on the Tampa Bay Rays! We played against them for our very first game. A lot of my family members showed up for the Pagonis-Martin vs. Walkoe-Neyt face off. We even organized a little bet....the losing team had to buy Dairy Queen for the rest of the family! We lost, we bought. I love this picture. Cute sluggers!

Tom was head coach of the team and I just have to say how proud I am of him. He's a great baseball coach and it's his favorite sport to head up. The kids and parents all love him and Jacob enjoys having his dad out there with him. Like father, like son....they both love baseball and it shows!

Spectator Nicholas. All of my kids were real troopers as they were on the sidelines for almost all of the games. They spent most of the time running around with their friends or playing on the playground.

To celebrate the season, Tom and his assistant coaches took the kids for ice cream! To sum it all up very simply...Jacob had another a great season! He's looking forward to doing competitive ball next spring.
